Waxahachie firefighters responded Monday afternoon to a structure fire call in the 3000 block of Howard Road, with the first engine arriving on scene at 3:39 p.m.

“We received a call from dispatch that we had a working structure fire with a car inside. Upon arrival we had one car inside an open structure and we were able to get a quick knockdown on it,” Waxahachie Fire Department Battalion Chief Randy Muirhead said. “There was a little bit of the fire that spread outside of the barn onto the grass but it was nothing that they could not take care of with the hand lines off of the engine. They did a quick knockdown on the car and there was very minimal damage to any part of the structure.”

The Red Oak Fire Department filled in at station three for units dispatched on the call. A second alarm and mutual aid from the Ovilla Fire Department was disregarded since the fire was brought quickly under control.

The vehicle was considered a total loss.
