Travis Elementary School will be a festive place this Saturday as the PTO gears up for their annual carnival and Mexican dinner fund raiser. Gorditas, along with all the trimmings, a drink and dessert will be served from 11 am - 2 pm in the cafeteria and will also be offered as a drive-thru service.

“There will be bounce houses, face painting and lots of other activities for the whole family,” said Tracy Bowles, PTO member,

The fund raiser is the school's main endeavor of the year and will help purchase new playground equipment as well as finance incentive programs and purchase supplies for the classes.

“Some of the money raised will go toward the classrooms and each teacher will get some extra items for their kids and some will also pay for the field trips the classes participate in all year long,” Bowles said.

The event is important to the school and also to the community. Local businesses have donated items for the silent auction as well as helped donate items needed to put on the supper.

“The community has always been so great to us and we appreciate them and everything they do. We definitely could not put this on without their help. The teachers and school staff are also really helpful and get involved to make sure the kids benefit from the fund-raiser, it really is a group effort,” Bowles said.
