WHS band car wash Saturday
The Waxahachie Band will host a car wash from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, in the parking lot in front of the Waxahachie High School.
Car wash is free, donations are accepted to raise funds for the band.
Community dance Saturday
A community dance will be held from 7-9 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13 at the Country Lane Senior Living Center, 133 Park Hills Dr., adjacent to the Waxahachie Senior Citizens Center.
Music will be provided by the Final Showdown Band and snacks will be served.
Admission is free.
Moonlight Movie tonight
The city of Waxahachie Main Street program is having an end of summer street dance from 7-9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 12.
“Come downtown and dance in the streets to your heart’s content to the musical stylings of Your DJ,” a spokesman said. “Stay after the dance to watch the final Summer Moonlight Movie — the 1984 version of ‘Footloose.’ Come join us for a free, family friendly night of fun in downtown Waxahachie.”
Ellis County Christian Homeschool information meeting
The Ellis County Christian Homeschool will host an information meeting and school year kickoff party at 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, at Church of Christ, 1503 Country Club Road in Ennis. There will be information tables, two breakout sessions – co-op classes and homeschool curriculum – and a question and answer session in an informal gathering. Bring the family and enjoy a hot dog supper afterward.

Veterans Memorial Committee to distribute paver forms
The Veterans Memorial Committee of Ennis will be at the CNB parking lot across from Waxahachie High School from 1-5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, to pass out paver forms and to sell T-shirts and raffle tickets for the Chevrolet Cruze to be given away Nov. 11.
Historic 5K run for REACH
REACH council will host the Historic 5K Run at 8 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, at 109 S. Jackson St. in Waxahachie. Registration is $15 for kids under 12 and $25 for runners or walkers ages 12 and up. A late fee of $5 will be charged those registering on the day of the run. Proceeds from the event provide drug prevention programs for youth.
