‘Bye, Bye, Birdie’
The Midlothian High School fine arts department will present “Bye, Bye, Birdie," at 7 p.m. Jan. 25-26 and at 2:30 p.m. Jan. 27 in the high school auditorium. Tickets are $7 for children and $6 for children and students. Tickets may be obtained by called 972-775-8237.
Pancake, Chili Day
The Waxahachie First United Methodist Church Covenant Class will hold their annual Pancake and Chili Day from 7 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, in the Family Life Center at the First United Methodist Church.
Pancake meals will be served from 7-11 a.m. and chili meals will be served from 11 a.m.-2 p.m.
Take-out is available. Homemade soup, casseroles and baked goods will also be available for purchase. This event is the class’ annual fundraiser and all funds raised go back into the community through outreach projects.

Fried fish lunch
The Bardwell Community Center will host a fried fish lunch at noon Saturday, Jan. 26.
The meal will include fried fish, cole slaw, beans, hush puppies, dessert and drink for $6.
“Please attend and enjoy great food and great fellowship,” a spokesman said. “Funds collected will be used for the benefit of the community center.”

Ages 2-10 are invited to the “Think Snow” children’s party at Nicholas P. Sims Library from 2:30-3:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26.
“Join us for stories, crafts and a special film about snow,” a spokesman said.
Parenting seminar offered
Waxahachie Bible Church is sponsoring a parenting seminar from 8:45 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26.
The “Parenting is Heart Work” interactive seminar is produced by the National Center for Biblical Parenting and will be presented by Mike Ballard. Visit www.biblicalparenting.org to learn more.
A children’s program will be provided for ages 5-12, including crafts, activities, stories and games. Children older than 12 are encouraged to sit in with adults.

Ellis County SPCA
The Ellis County SPCA will hold an orientation meeting to share information about the animal shelter and available volunteer opportunities.
The meeting is scheduled from 11 a.m.-noon Saturday, Jan. 26, at the Waxahachie Chamber of Commerce, located at 102 YMCA Drive. The Ellis County SPCA is a private, nonprofit agency and is not affiliated with any other animal care associations or SPCAs.

Free throw contest
Knights of Columbus chapter 8417 in Waxahachie will host its annual free throw contest at the YMCA beginning at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 27. The event is for boys and girls ages 10-14; no entry fee is required. Winners will advance to regional and state competitions. Participants must bring a birth certificate.
