Members of the Lights of Ennis committee are adopting a nautical theme for the annual fund-raiser and having a pirate inspired costume party.

The event, which will be held on Sept. 22 at La Galleria and will feature dinner and dancing with entertainment from a live band and also have prizes up for grabs for those in attendance.

“It is going to be a great time and we are looking forward to it. The evening will be one to remember,” said Harriett Adams, co-chairperson of the event.

Adams helped pave the way for the event, which raises money to help pay for the Christmas lights that are lit in the historic downtown area during the Christmas holiday season.

The fund-raiser is serious business for Adams, who offers a warning to those that do not come in costume.

“We are leaving the costume category wide open for those that want to participate. They can choose a pirate era from Errol Flynn to Johnny Depp, but those that don’t wear a costume will have to walk the plank,” Adams said with a laugh.
