SAN ANTONIO (AP) -A UPS package handler in San Antonio is accused of stealing about $30,000 worth of shipped jewelry by stuffing the bling into his shoes.
A police report says 23-year-old Joshua Rodriguez was charged with theft of more than $20,000.
The report says a July 22 end-of-shift security check of Rodriguez turned up items intended for delivery to a jewelry store. Police say Rodriguez had been suspected of taking expensive items, including gold chains and rings.
Rodriguez was freed Thursday on $10,000 bond. A jail clerk, who declined to give her name Friday, told The Associated Press that no information was listed for an attorney for Rodriguez.
UPS spokesman Dan McMackin (mik-MAK'-in) says Rodriguez was terminated Thursday and that "our security folks did their jobs, did them well."
