A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms was expected in Dallas-Fort Worth under mostly cloudy skies with a high near 79. North winds should be between 10 and 15 mph. The low should fall to around 66 under mostly cloudy skies.

Showers and thunderstorms were likely in Houston, mainly after 1 p.m. Skies should be mostly cloudy with a high near 85. The chance of precipitation was 70 percent. The low should drop to around 70 under mostly cloudy skies.

A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms was predicted after 1 p.m. in Brownsville. Skies should be partly cloudy in the Rio Grande Valley with a high near 94. The low was expected to fall to around 75.

A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms was predicted in the Panhandle, mainly after 1 p.m., with a high near 79 degrees. The low should fall to around 57.
