DALLAS (AP) _ A Dallas County jury has sentenced Rockwall County District Attorney Ray Sumrow to 4 years in prison for theft by a public servant.
The jury on Monday found Sumrow guilty of using money from an office fund to buy computer equipment for personal use. It also found he bought airline tickets for his girlfriend and collected expense money for trips he never took.
The jury couldn't reach a verdict on charges of records tampering and forgery.
Sumrow could have faced up to 10 years in prison when sentenced Tuesday.
Sumrow has been the district attorney since 1987. He blamed the prosecution on a disgruntled defendant and a vengeful politician.
