AMARILLO, Texas (AP) - A 26-year-old has been indicted on capital murder and aggravated assault charges in the shooting deaths of two people who let his estranged girlfriend stay at their home.
A Randall County grand jury Wednesday indicted Wilbert Ramon Banks in the April shooting deaths of Stephanie Beard and Daniel Brittain, both 24.
Authorities believe Banks went to the couple's Amarillo home looking for his estranged girlfriend, the mother of one of his children. Prosecutors allege that after shooting Beard and Brittain, Banks held a gun to his estranged girlfriend's head, threatening to kill her.
Banks later surrendered in nearby Potter County. Banks remained in Potter County jail Thursday on $1 million bond.
A phone message could not immediately be left at the office of defense attorney Anthony Odiorne on Thursday.
