WACO, Texas (AP) - Nobody was hurt when an early morning fire damaged severalunits of a motel in Waco.

Electricity was cut to all of the Lone Star Motel following the fire around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Assistant Fire Chief Chris Pechacek says the fire damaged one of the motel's pair of single-story buildings. A caller had reported smelling smoke.

Damage was being assessed, but investigators say at least four units were gutted, while several others have suffered roof damage.

The American Red Cross was helping displaced motel occupants.
