OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Members of Oklahoma's congressional delegation are opposing plans by the U.S. Coast Guard to enforce license requirements for fishing guides on Lake Texoma.
Republican U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe said Friday he's working on legislation to cede jurisdiction of the lake to Oklahoma and Texas.
He tells the Tulsa World's Washington bureau he will ensure a "commonsense solution" is reached.
Inhofe says the Coast Guard has not enforced licensing requirements for 15 years, but recently announced plans to start.
Democrat U.S. Rep. Dan Boren likened the enforcement provisions to "using a hammer to swat a fly."
