SAN ANTONIO (AP) - Three San Antonio families are homeless after Christmas Day fires, at least one of which may have been sparked by lights on a tree.
The residents of the homes escaped safely, but two dogs died in one fire.
San Antonio Fire Department Battalion Chief Danny Gonzalez says it appears that one fire at a house that was completely destroyed may have been started by lights left on all night. He says the family got out safely and firefighters tried to salvage as many gifts as possible from under the tree.
In another area of the city, a fire apparently started by hot embers destroyed a home. Officials say the residents escaped unharmed.
Gonzalez says a third fire damaged a trailer home. He says two dogs died in the fire.
