The Telico Volunteer Fire Department is seeking donation for their annual barn dance fund-raiser to be held Sept. 29.

The event is the main effort from the department and the funds raised are used to support the department with maintenance and operation costs throughout the year.

The annual get-together is a community favorite and one the that has been supported for many years.

“The community has always been great about supporting us and making sure we get everything we need to be successful and we are asking for their continued support. Without the funds raised by this event, the department might not be able to provide the important and life-saving support the community deserves,” said Josh Slovak, fire department volunteer.

The department recently received funds from FEMA to purchase a new fire truck and will use the funds raised from the barn dance to insure all volunteers have the equipment needed to be safe as they serve the department.

While the department is located in the community of Telico, it often gets called out to render aid to neighboring communities such as Ennis.

The fund-raiser, which includes music, dancing and refreshments also, has both a live and silent auction where supporters bid on donated items which have been a hit with both those in attendance and the fire department.

The department will be collecting items throughout the coming weeks and anyone wishing to donate or volunteer is asked to contact Charlie Walker at (972)-878-2338.
