Police are looking for two men suspected of an armed robbery Jan. 19 at the H-E-B on Clay Street.
The incident occurred at about 9:15 p.m. in the parking lot as a woman and her two children were getting into their car.
“A black male wearing a ski mask approached her and pointed a gun at her,” detective Sgt. Robbie Jock said. “He told her to give him her purse or he would kill her.”
The two children jumped from the vehicle and ran toward their father, who was still on the other side of the parking lot, with the woman initially hesitating and trying to leave, Jock said.
“Another black male walked up with a weapon and said the same thing to her so she handed her purse over,” Jock said, saying the two men took off running south toward the area of Prosperity Bank. “It happened so fast, they just got her purse and ran.”
Officers were dispatched to the scene and conducted a search of the area, but were unable to locate the two men, Jock said, saying a more detailed description was not available because they were wearing ski masks and hoodies. One witness did report a dark-colored Ford vehicle may have been involved with the incident.
There was evidence recovered at the scene, which Jock said is being processed.
