The Waxahachie Police Department is investigating an armed robbery that occurred in the early morning hours of Aug. 12.

Detective Lt. Todd Woodruff said a 27-year-old male told police he was approached by two men in the parking lot of the apartments in the 1000 block of Solon Place Way at about 3:30 a.m.

The two men indicated they had car trouble and then one pulled a handgun on the victim and demanded money, Woodruff said.

“The victim says he fought with the armed man (and) during the struggle the gun went off but he was not hit,” Woodruff said.

The two suspects then fled in a champagne-colored car, possibly a Ford Taurus, with the police getting an initial call of “shots fired” from several residents in the complex, Woodruff said.

The victim described the two suspects as black males in their 20s, Woodruff said.
