LANCASTER - A 26-year-old Lancaster man has been arrested by the U.S. Marshals Service in Minnesota on a capital murder charge relating to the death of his girlfriend’s 4-year-old son.

On Jan. 17, Deltoro and Edelmira Trujillo took the child, Nathan Trujillo-Navarro, to the emergency room at Children’s Medical Center in Dallas. The child was suffering from a massive skull fracture. Despite medical intervention, the child passed away Jan. 23. An extensive investigation revealed that the injuries were due to blunt force trauma and that the injuries were suffered while the child was left in Deltoro’s care, Lancaster police said.

Deltoro was interviewed by Lancaster detectives Jan. 17, police said, noting that shortly thereafter, Deltoro disappeared and eluded authorities until May 3 despite an intensive search for him. He was arrested late Thursday afternoon at a motel in Owatonna, Minn.

Deltoro was reportedly using an alias name in a further effort to avoid detection, police said, noting Deltoro will be transported to the Ramsey County jail in Saint Paul, Minn., to await further processing and transportation back to Dallas County to face the capital murder charge.
