Sheriff Bob Alford reports, in the early afternoon hours of Feb. 10, information was received about suspicious activity at a residence in the 100 block of CR 109.

Deputies were dispatched to the area and while enroute received further information of a Ford F-250 pickup truck leaving the residence. The suspect vehicle had just passed the responding Deputies on CR 109. Deputies turned around to perform a traffic stop and stopped the vehicle at CR 109 and CR 208. Located inside were two male occupants, one female occupant and a 7-month-old child.

During the course of the traffic stop Deputies observed in the bed of the pickup, in plain view, copper wiring that had been recently cut and wire cutters with evidence of a fresh bronze coloring indicating they were used recently to cut copper wire.

During the investigation it was determined one of the male suspects, Jeffery Morgan (W/M 29 years of age), had been dropped off at the residence in the 100 block of CR 109. The female and the other male suspect (Stacy Lay W/M 40 years of age) then left the area. Lay returned shortly to the location where Morgan had been dropped off and assisted Morgan in loading the copper into the bed of the pickup and together they left the residence.

Both suspects Stacy Lay and Jeffery Morgan were taken into custody on the below listed charges.
