The Red Oak ISD Police Department, in cooperation with the cities of Red Oak, Glenn Heights, Ovilla, DeSoto, Lancaster, Cedar Hill, Midlothian, the Waxahachie Fire Department, Red Oak Fire and Rescue, Glenn Heights Fire and Rescue, Red Oak Police Department, Glenn Heights Police Department, Care Flite Air Ambulance, Air Evac Air Ambulance and many surrounding emergency responders will activate the districtís emergency operations plan in a full scale mock disaster drill May 13.
The drill will take place at about 9:30 a.m. at Donald T. Shields Elementary School, 223 W. Ovilla Road, in Glenn Heights.
More than 700 Red Oak ISD students, teachers, staff, and parents will be participants during this drill. Incident command will be a unified command by Red Oak ISD administration, Red Oak ISD Police, Red Oak Fire and Rescue and Glenn Heights Police Department.
This will be one of the largest school mock disaster drills held in the state of Texas.
Red Oak ISD is pleased to welcome representatives from the Texas School Safety Center, Midlothian ISD, Dallas ISD, Dallas ISD Police Department, Coppell Police Department, Waxahachie ISD, Ferris ISD, Ennis ISD, Palmer ISD, Venus ISD, Lancaster ISD and the North Central Texas Council of Governments.
These representatives will be on hand to observe the drill and use as a model for their employees and districts.
Red Oak ISD will also film the drill to use as a district training tool for all staff.
