The Waxahachie Symphony Association announces the opportunity for all interested Ellis County high school seniors to participate in the 2007-2008 Symphony Belles and Beaus Program.

The Symphony Belles and Beaus Program, one of several activities within the Waxahachie Symphony Association, is designed for those senior students interested in developing an appreciation of the arts, community service and social/life skills.

“The goal of the program is to offer fine arts related activities and experiences for young people, which will give them a comprehensive overview of music, arts, history and architecture while offering them an opportunity to give back to their community via service projects,” a spokesman said. “The symphony belles and beaus act as ambassadors, representing the association throughout the community.”

Each belle and beau will participate in an assortment of about 10 activities, including Waxahachie Symphony Association concerts, art appreciation seminars, service projects, social/life skills sessions and socials.

The culmination of the program will be the presentation of the belles and beaus at a gala reception in their honor.

The Symphony Belles and Beaus Program is funded through a participation fee.

For the 2007-2008 year, the fee will be $300, consisting of a $75 family subscription to the Waxahachie Symphony Association and a $225 participation fee.

The fee covers the costs of all activities, as well as the cost of the belle or beau’s gala ticket.
