A 52-year-old Red Oak man was killed in a two-vehicle accident Saturday night.

Justice of the Peace Jackie Miller Jr. pronounced the man dead at the scene at 11:40 p.m., ordering the body to the Dallas County medical examiner’s office for an autopsy.

Miller said the man was driving a Z71 Chevrolet pickup and was headed northbound on State Highway 342 when he went into the southbound lane and struck a tractor-trailer (car hauler) head-on.

“He was killed instantly, with massive injuries,” Miller said.

The accident occurred about where 342 intersects with Anderson Road, north of Ovilla Road, Miller said.

The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured, Miller said, saying a passenger in the tractor-trailer was shaken up.

The Red Oak police and fire departments worked the accident.
