Weeks of wet weather have brought construction in and around Waxahachie to a virtual standstill, causing work sites to become veritable ghost towns as companies anxiously await the sun to dry things out.
Several projects have been slowed by the weather, including the Cotton Patch Cafe, the Olive Garden Restaurant, new JCPenney’s and Signature Senior Living.
Unlike the other projects on this list, Signature Senior Living is not located on U.S. Highway 77, but can be found just south of the intersection of Indian Drive and Brown Street.
Construction crews had just begun dirt work for the assisted living center when the rains set in. The weather stopped their progress toward the installation of water retention and drainage devices and other preparations for the pouring of a foundation for the 48,700-square foot building. When completed, the building will have space for dozens of tenants.
Designed by Kimley-Horn and Associates Inc., the project is being constructed by Resource Commercial Incorporated.
Its site plan was approved the city earlier this year in January, and its building permit was issued June 8.
