Tour d’ Italia rides into the city of Italy

The Lone Star Cyclists present the 22nd annual Tour d’ Italia ride on Saturday, June 16, in Italy.

The start time is 8 a.m., with distances of about 12, 33, 42, 50 and 62 miles. Free camping and showers will be offered at Italy High School starting today.

There will be a spaghetti dinner this evening, a pancake breakfast Saturday morning and hamburgers will be available for lunch.

Proceeds from the ride benefit the Italy High School scholarship fund, Bikes for Tykes, MADD and other organizations.

“We challenge all Italy citizens to come out for dinner Friday and greet these visitors to our town and make them feel welcomed,” a spokesman said. “Return on Saturday for breakfast, lunch or both. Very few relationships in life make it 22 years and we all need to celebrate this yearly event.”

Sylvia’ on stage

Ennis Public Theatre presents “Sylvia,” Friday and Saturday nights, through June 30.

Curtain time is at 8 p.m., with a 2:30 p.m. matinee Sunday, June 24.

Written by A.R. Gurney, “Sylvia” is a romantic comedy about a dog, the middle-aged New York couple that adopts her and the drama that results.

Motorcycle run

Reins of Life will hold a benefit motorcycle poker run Saturday, June 16.

Registration begins at 7 a.m. at Starbucks in Waxahachie, with the run ending in Cedar Hill for an auction, bike show, live band and good food.

As a special guest, Ellis County’s Outstanding Teen, Kelly Dillard, will be at Starbucks from 8-10 a.m. to assist with the fund-raiser.

Special Olympics fund-raiser

The local Special Olympics swim team will hold a fund-raiser at the Waxahachie Sonic from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Saturday, June 16. Proceeds from the event will help fund summer activities.

Farmers Market

The Waxahachie Downtown Farmers Market is held every Saturday from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. and continues through Oct. 27. The market is located at the south end of the Ellis County Courthouse on Franklin Street between Rogers and College. Vendors have fresh vegetables and fruits, plants, crafts and wares for purchase. Smoothies and other refreshments are also available. Master Gardeners are on site every week to answer agricultural questions.

Aggie Moms

The Ellis County Aggie Moms invite all Ellis County Aggies and their families to the annual Howdy Party from 2-3:30 p.m. Sunday, June 17, at Park Meadows Baptist Church, 3350 U.S. Highway 77 North, Waxahachie.

This year’s guests will be the Aggie yell leaders and Reville.

Cookies and punch will be served.

“This is an opportunity to meet other Ellis County Aggies and families, hear and practice the Aggie yells and have your picture made with Reville (bring your camera),” a spokesman said. “Come and enjoy the fellowship of Ellis County Aggies and work on your Aggie spirit.”

Christian Women’s Connection

The “Summer Time Entertaining” luncheon will be held from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Colonnade Restaurant located at the Waxahachie Country Club. The speaker for the month is Grace Pryor, who will speak on how circumstance changes with choices.

Debbie Brown, musician and singer, will present the feature “Cool Sounds.”
