For about 30 years, the Waxahachie Mothers Club has hosted an annual event for the community in which children can have their photograph made with Santa Claus.
This past weekend, the group was in the Kids Store at JCPenney in Waxahachie.
“It’s our biggest fundraiser,” said member Jan Jenkins of the event that raises money for local children’s charities such as Common Ground Ministries, Gingerbread House children’s advocacy center, Rainbow Room and others.
“Some of our Santas have volunteered each year for over 20 years now,” Jenkins said, noting that many - but not all - of the Santas are husbands of the club’s members.
“The Mothers Club is a wonderful group of ladies with such a giving nature,” said two-year member Betty Reuscher, who was volunteering at the event Saturday afternoon.
“And we have a lot of fun,” said Jenkins, also volunteering on a Saturday afternoon.
The club will offer photographs again this coming weekend, with children of all ages invited to see Santa Claus in the Kids Store at JCPenney from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, and from 1-6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16.
