OVILLA - Dale Helm addressed the City Council on Monday evening about the upcoming blood drive, stressing the importance of giving and noting the drive will be held from 7:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 25.
The sponsors are also looking for a few volunteers to direct next year’s drive, he said, saying anyone interested can contact him. Helms, who will serve as grand marshall for the upcoming Heritage Day, also thanked the police and fire departments for again having a successful National Night Out program.
A specific use permit was granted to ExhibitTrader.com to convert 3324 Ovilla Road to office space for the company headquarters. The business’ owners, the Rogowicz family, has lived in Ovilla many years and will now call it home to their business as well, it was noted.
An ordinance regarding regulation of signs was passed and after two public hearings about a service provision for water and sewer in the Ovilla Creek Estates region of the extra-territorial jurisdiction, it was recommended the amended ordinance be adopted.
Discussion of the Lariat construction project brought several matters to be researched, with the council to address the matter further in an upcoming meeting.
