Music and entertainment lovers will be glad to know Oktoberfest is only a few days away.

“Entertainment this year will include some old favorites, the crowd pleasers, as well as some exciting new acts,” entertainment chairman Janet Case said.

Case and her husband, Jim, have worked as disc jockey, emcee and organizer of the karaoke contest at the Oktoberfest for the past three years. This is the first year that they have served as chairman for the entertainment committee.

Waxahachie residents for the past 11 years and members of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Cases are the owners of Powerplay Production, a business they started five years ago.

Jim, who has worked for many years as a stagehand, sound and lighting crew for a business in Dallas, came up with the idea for Powerplay Production.

“We do the prom, the homecoming dance, class reunions, Project Graduation and the Dunaway Elementary Sock Hop,” said Case of some of the occasions they’ve worked as disc jockeys. “We also do a lot of weddings and Christmas parties. It’s been really fun.

“What we do for the Oktoberfest is provide the sound system, announce all the events, provide the music, emcee the live auction, hold the karaoke contest for kids and adults. We’re also kicking off the run that morning,” Case said.
