Donations needed

Women’s Resource Center, 900 W. Ennis Ave., Suite 119, is accepting donations of baby-related items. For more information, call (972) 878-0784.

Volunteers at the Trinity United Methodist Church are inviting everyone to visit their clothes closet, where clothes, shoes, and other items are available for needy families. The closet is open from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Donations are also accepted. The church is located at 1500 S. Hall St., Ennis. For more information, call (972) 878-7464.

Helping Hands of Ennis is in need of food and staple items for their outreach program. Donations of protein sources such as tuna, peanut butter, canned meats, powdered milk and any other items would be appreciated.

The St. John booster club is looking for donations for their sidewalk sale that will be held in June. Gently used furniture, toys, clothes, books etc would be greatly appreciated. The booster club will pick up items if necessary. Contact (972) 762-1385

Library hosts guest

The Ennis Public Library will host Texas singer/song-writer, Brian Burns on May 17. Burns is the song writer behind the hit “I’ve been everywhere,” best known in the country music world. The show starts at 6:30 p.m. and everyone is invited to attend. For more information, call (972) 875-5360.

The Friends of the Library will host a Family Fun Night at 6:30 p.m. the third Thursday of each month at the Ennis Public Library. The event will feature entertainment for the entire family. For more information, call (972) 875-5360.

The special guest for the May 17 meeting will be Texas singer/songwriter, Brian Burns. Burns is the songwriter behind the song, “I’ve been everywhere”, a country classic Burns will be entertaining the audience with his cowboy stories and songs, titled, “Once upon a time in Texas.”.

Everyone is invited to attend the fun night and encouraged to bring friends.

Health Fair

The Cowboy church of Ennis will hold a community wide health fair for people and their pets on May 19. Numerous health care providers will be in attendance as well as services for pets. There will also be activities for the kids. Golf Tournament

There will be a golf tournament benefiting Ennis Spirit Fastpitch, 12 and under girls softball team at 8:30 a.m. at the Indian Oaks Golf Course in Kemp, Texas. There will be prizes for first and second place. Bring your own team, $50 per person entry fee. Sign up deadline is May 16.
