Entering into the health care field can be an exciting journey. But with so many options today, how do you know which one is right for you?
The Navarro College health services professional certificate can be a good start in determining which path to take toward a career in health care.
It is designed to let students transfer skills into entry-level positions in medical offices and rehabilitation facilities, or to continue studies toward a degree in a related allied health field, such as occupational therapy assistant, medical lab assistant or nursing.
Courses will be offered in Corsicana and Mexia beginning in January for the spring semester.
The health services professional certificate degree plan includes seven courses, plus a clinical component of 20 semester hours.
Examples of courses include: introduction to health professions, basic health profession skills and wellness and health promotion.
In addition, once a student has completed the basic certificate, he or she can continue to obtain an advanced certificate with an additional 16 hours.
“Register now for one or more of the health certificate spring courses before the classes fill up,” a spokesman said.
