WASHINGTON (AP) — The Air Force has identified two members killed in a roadside bombing in Afghanistan as a Pentagon officer and an airman.
An Air Force statement issued Wednesday identified the dead as 39-year-old Lt. Col. Mark E. Stratton II of Houston and 21-year-old Senior Airman Ashton L.M. Goodman of Indianapolis.
The Pentagon said they died of wounds from a roadside bomb explosion near Bagram Air Field in Afghanistan.
Stratton was assigned to the Joint Staff of the Pentagon. The Air Force News Service reports the Texas A&M University graduate was executive assistant for the Deputy Director for Politico-Military Affairs, Asia, and commanded the Panjshir Provincial Reconstruction Team.
Goodman was assigned to the 43rd Logistics Readiness Squadron, Pope Air Force Base, N.C., and was part of the Panjshir Provincial Reconstruction Team.
