GROTON, Conn. (AP) - Former first lady Laura Bush is in Connecticut to honor an acquaintance from her White House days at a change of command ceremony at the Navy's submarine base in Groton.
Bush spoke at the ceremony Friday to turn over command of the USS Texas to Cmdr. Robert Roncska. Roncska, dubbed "Navy Bob" by President George W. Bush, was naval aide to the former president from 2006 to 2008. He also accompanied the first lady on a trip to Afghanistan.
Roncska, a native of Dunkirk, N.Y., took command from of the USS Texas from Cmdr. James Gray. Gray, from Dover, Del., is moving to the executive panel of the chief of naval operations.
