Reins of Life Therapeutic Riding invites everyone out to its first Biker Blowout Motorcycle Poker Run on Saturday, June 16, at Starbuck’s in Waxahachie. The run, which begins at 10 a.m., will travel to Maypearl, Mansfield and Red Oak before finishing up at The Boxcar in Cedar Hill.

At the final stop, there will be an auction and a bike show, a live band, door prizes and food for those attending.

“The stops consist of various vendors who support our endeavors,” president Carol Anderson said.

Registration will begin at 7 a.m. with single riders paying $15 and double riders paying $20.

All proceeds from the ride and auction will benefit Reins of Life Therapeutic Riding Center and help to improve the organization’s program and facilities.

“The funds will be used toward improving the Reins of Life facility and towards needed equipment,” Anderson said. “There is also a project planned in September to build a cover over our arena so we don’t have to fight the weather any more.

“We have had problems this year with having so much rain that we have had to cancel class several times,” she said. “Our volunteers and riders have been very patient waiting for the rain to stop. With the construction projects we have planned for this year, it shows that Reins of Life is growing and that we will be able to serve more of Ellis and surrounding counties.”

Reins of Life Therapeutic Riding is an equine-assisted therapy program designed to benefit children and adults with special needs.

“We strive to reach out and serve those families with individuals with special needs to reach new horizons through equine assisted activities,” Anderson said.
