MALONE, Texas — A 41-year-old Milford resident lost his life in a motorcycle accident on Farm Road 308 about two miles east of Malone on Saturday, Aug. 20.
Authorities were called to the location just east of HCR 3441 at 8:24 p.m., according to a Hill County Sheriff’s Office spokesman.
Department of Public Safety troopers identified the driver as David Fedrick, who was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace John Milburn, who ordered the body sent to Southwest Institute of Forensic Sciences for an autopsy.
Air Evac transported the passenger, Matthew Wilson, 18, listed in the DPS report as a Milford resident, to Scott and White Hospital in Temple. A DPS teletype listed his condition as stable with head trauma. An update on his condition Monday listed his condition as critical.
According to DPS and sheriff’s office reports, the motorcycle was eastbound on the farm road when it failed to negotiate a slight curve. It left the roadway to the left and went several hundred feet before hitting a small creek, they said.
First responders from the Malone Volunteer Fire Department and CareFlite ground stabilized the passenger before he was flown.
Neither of the men was wearing a helmet, authorities said.
Troopers La’Terrance Moses, C.J. Owens and Richard Medina were assisted by sheriff’s deputies at the scene.
