The Midlothian Police Department will hold its annual National Night Out event from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Aug. 7, at the Midlothian Conference Center.
National Night Out, now in its 24th year, is a nationally sponsored event that is designed to heighten crime, drug and violence prevention awareness, generate support for and participation in, local anticrime programs; strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
It is traditionally held the first Tuesday in August.
This event, sponsored by the Midlothian Police Department, in partnership with Target and the U.S. Department of Justice, is an opportunity for members of the community, local businesses and law enforcement to come together in support of a common cause.
Over 35 million people nationally are expected to participate in National Night Out, and the Midlothian Police Department expect the numbers locally to exceed the over 500 people in attendance last year.
Midlothian has traditionally seen hundreds of people show up to enjoy this event.
If you would like to reserve a booth, at no cost to you, or if you need more information, contact Amy Calder, National Night Our Coordinator for the Midlothian Police Department at (972) 775-3333.
