A 40-year-old man was killed in an accident involving a four-wheel vehicle near Waxahachie.
On Jan. 14, deputies with the Ellis County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene, located in a field across from 350 Boz Road, just south of Waxahachie.
“Upon the arrival of law enforcement and emergency medical service personnel, it was determined that Robert Wayne Hattersley, of Tool, Texas, 40, was deceased from an obvious head injury from the four-wheeler rolling over on top of him,” Sgt. Jason Westmoreland with the Ellis County Sheriff’s Office stated in a press release issued this morning.
“Mr. Hattersley was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, which occurred on private property,” Westmoreland stated.
According to the release, the victim was pronounced deceased by Justice of the Peace Curtis Polk, Pct. 3, who ordered the body be transported to the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s office to determine the cause of death.
The accident remains under investigation with the Ellis County Sheriff’s Office.
