It will be a hot time in downtown Friday night.
Lone Star Auto Club is hosting a street dance in the Back Alley Plaza starting at 7 p.m. Friday and the community is urged to come out, eat at a downtown restaurant, look at the vintage vehicles and enjoy a little country music.
“We’re focusing on downtown businesses and restaurants and just promoting downtown in general,” said Frank “Wormy” Miller, event coordinator. “We want newcomers to come downtown and learn a little about Midlothian. We want the old folks like me to come out and make new friend.”
Miller said the street dance is a family-oriented event and a band is scheduled to play as the sun sets.
“We hope people will come out eat, shop a little and then stroll over to the Back Alley Plaza and listen to a little music,” said Miller. “We’ll have the cars, trucks and tractors lined up and we’re urging people to bring a blanket and lawn chairs.”
And all this offered free of charge.
“We know it may be hot and we know it may rain,” said Miller. “We’re going to try and pull it off no matter what the weather. If things go well we plan on doing it again next weekend.”
