MAYPEARL — Annette Wilson who has served the community of Maypearl as postmaster is stepping down after 35 years of service.
Wilson moved to Maypearl from Waxahachie with her family when she was in the seventh grade and has remained in the community ever since.
“I’ll probably help with the cattle,” said Wilson in reference to how she will spend her retirement years. “My husband, Gary, raises registered cattle and also works as a farmer, rancher and he also custom bales hay.”
Wilson worked for the telephone company for 10 years before going to work for the U.S. Postal Service.
“I’ve been here for 35 years and I’ve been postmaster since 1979,” she said.
The Wilsons have three children, Andrea Wilson of Dallas, Alisha Baran and Alan Wilson, both of Maypearl; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
“I don’t think there is a community anywhere like Maypearl,” Wilson said.
