No injuries were reported from a fire early Thursday morning. Firefighters were called out to the 700 block of Cantrell St. at 5:19 a.m.

“When firefighters arrived they reported heavy fire that was out the back of the house. The fire was basically confined to the kitchen with heavy damage,” Waxahachie Fire Chief David Hudgins said. “There was heavy smoke and water damage throughout the rest of the home.”

Residents were out of the structure when firefighters arrived on scene. The Red Oak Fire Department filled in at station three for first responders out on the call.

No problems or difficulties were reported by firefighters. Oncor was called out to cut the electricity to the home and the American Red Cross responded to provide assistance to the displaced residents.

Firefighters cleared the scene at 7:30 a.m. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the fire marshal.
