The Texas Department of Transportation will soon begin striping main lanes and moving traffic barriers into place along northbound Interstate 635 (I-635) between Interstate 30 and U.S. Highway 80 at 7 p.m. Sunday, June 3.

Once the switch is in place congestion may be an issue for about eight months during the Town East Boulevard overpass construction.

TxDOT is building at this location a $45.9 million interchange that began January 2006.

The current I-635 configuration is four through-lanes, but after the switch is completed on both sides of the interstate, which will take about two weeks, motorists will be reduced down to three lanes each direction.

Message boards to alert the traveling public are already in place.

The contractor for this 1.8 mile project is McCarthy Building Companies Inc. of Addison. Estimated completion is August 2008.
