Margaret Hill, Secretary/Treasurer on the HILCO Electric Cooperative Board of Directors, was honored for two years of service on the San Miguel Electric Cooperative board. She has served on the HILCO board since 1995.

Ms. Hill served on the San Miguel Ad Hoc/Audit committee. Prior to her appointment to the board, she served as alternate delegate for two years. She is the first woman to serve on the 26-member San Miguel board.

San Miguel Electric Cooperative in Christine, Texas, generates power that is sold to Brazos Electric Power Cooperative, HILCO’s sole provider of electricity. As part owners of both San Miguel and Brazos cooperatives, the HILCO board appoints one director to each board to serve and protect the interests of its members.

William “Bill” Allen will represent HILCO on the San Miguel board for the next term.

HILCO Electric Cooperative serves over 21,990 electric meters in parts of Dallas, Ellis, Hill, Johnson, and McLennan counties. The cooperative is currently celebrating 70 years of service to its members.

HILCO, which has been in existence since 1936, has 16,000 members in its service area,. Hill County has the most members at this time; however, Ellis County is expected to become the largest in customer base in the next several years due to growth.
