North Ellis County Outreach is making preparations for the Thanksgiving holiday by accepting donations from giving residents.

The food is put into baskets that include a frozen turkey, ham or chicken, stuffing mix, dry potatoes, canned or dry gravy mix, cranberry sauce, two cans of salt-free green beans, two cans of salt-free corn, evaporated or dry milk, dinner rolls or cornbread mix, pie crust mix and pie filling.

Client assistance director Sandra Boone said the center sees people in need on a daily basis, so the sooner the donations are made, the better it is for the families.

“From what I’ve heard, a lot of people seem to donate around this time of year,” Boone said, saying the Thanksgiving drive is done annually.

“We have a lot of families who come in on a regular basis for food, so we do all we can to help them,” she said. “We also help families in the area with their utility bills and other things.”

Food can be dropped off from Oct. 29-Nov. 19 at 102 Waller St. in Red Oak.
