ENNIS - The holiday season is officially here and it is time to start thinking about giving back to the community.

Helping Hands of Ennis has been busy with its “Christmas Connection” program that will see families and children who otherwise might not receive gifts on the receiving end of some holiday cheer.

The program has always been successful but the need grows with each upcoming year. This year the program has 175 families signed up, including more than 300 children, but only 13 families have been adopted so far.

“The season is now, the spirit is now. It’s not something that should wait. Right now it’s critical that the people who want to adopt let their wishes be known,” said Jo Wesley, Helping Hands executive director. Individuals, churches and organizations are all welcome to sign up to adopt families in need of toys, clothing and food.
