Senior Girl Scouts Erica Ransom and Sara Nobles of Red Oak are working on their Girl Scout Gold Award. The Scouts will be collecting personal hygiene items on Saturday, Dec. 8, at the Main Street Plaza, during “Christmas in Red Oak.” The items will be donated to the Ellis County Rainbow Room.

Both girls have been in Girl Scout since elementary school and attend Red Oak High School. They need all of Red Oak to help them achieve their goal of collecting personal care items to be donated to the Ellis County Rainbow Room. This facility supplies only new items to children from infants to young adulthood with bare essentials for personal hygiene.

The Rainbow Room helps Children’s Protective Services with supplies for children that have been removed from their natural parents and placed in alternative homes for varying reasons.

The girls have made a commitment to gather items and help sort them for distribution and help the CPS caseworkers here in Ellis County. They will have a booth set up from 6-9 p.m. on Dec. 8 at the Main Street Plaza with the “Christmas in Red Oak” celebration. They will also have a game set up with free prizes.

The community is encouraged to bring any of the following items to their collection booth: wipes, soap, shampoo, conditioner, razors, deodorant, combs, brushes and hair clips.
