The Gingerbread Trail Tour of Homes and Arts & Crafts Festival weekend is almost here and you won’t want to miss this one.
The Trail is the annual fundraiser for the Ellis County Museum and features tours of five classic homes plus a special arts and crafts festival in Getzendaner Park.
Saturday, June 4, and Sunday, June 5, are the dates this year. The events will be open from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. both days. In addition to the Gingerbread Trail Tour of Homes and the Arts & Crafts Festival at Getzandaner Park, many organizations and groups will offer a variety of events and activities that weekend and many downtown merchants and restaurants offer specials for Trail participants.
The five homes to be viewed include the Smith home at 200 Oldham, the Ford home at 314 E. Marvin Ave., the Seibert home at 617 E. Marvin Ave., the Lipscomb home at 814 W. Main St. and the Norcross home at 600 Sycamore St. The homeowners are busy with last-minute preparations for all of the visitors.
The Arts & Crafts Festival will be held both days at Getzandaner Park. This is a high-quality show and the past year has been spent recruiting even more and better vendors. They will feature many crafts people from around the state. There will be food booths and musicians playing music from Texas’ history will perform both days. The music will be an open session and other acoustic musicians are welcome to sit in.
The cost of the Trail is $15, which includes entry to the five homes and bus transportation if desired. The Arts & Crafts Festival and all other activities are free.

The Gingerbread Trail and Arts & Crafts Festival is the museum’s annual fundraiser.
