Harold and Mindy McWilliams believe they’ve aligned the right particles to form a fusion of success in Waxahachie.

After more than 14 years in the gymnastics world, Harold and Mindy decided the time and location were right to open their first gym. In October, they took over Flip Factory - and converted into Flip Fusion.

“We want to provide a fun place for kids to come and have a good time,” Mindy said.

After living in the Fort Worth area for years, Harold and Mindy felt it was time for a change and saw Waxahachie as the place for them and their family.

“We wanted to get out of the city (Fort Worth) but still live close enough to travel up there whenever we wanted,” Harold said. “Plus, it just seemed to fit us, as a family.”

Harold and Mindy are hoping the community will take notice of the efforts they’re making with their gym. For instance, Flip Fusion is offering parents a place to leave their children during the busiest shopping day of the year for a nominal fee, staying open from 6 a.m.-5 p.m.

“We are providing a place for parents to drop off their kids the Friday after Thanksgiving,” Mindy said. “I know how hard it can be for parents to take their kids along with them. This offer goes out to anyone who wants our help, including non-members.”

Individual memberships are available as well as a family discount fee.

“We have a big family, so we try to accommodate those who are in the same situations we are,” Harold said.

Memberships include classes for improving skills in gymnastics, tumbling and or cheerleading. A staff of six provides instructional help for those who are interested in advancing their skill.

“Jonathan Cox is our head coach, Tyler Mitchell is in charge of beginning tumbling, Chea Kelly is our preschool coach, Megan Morris is the cheer coach and Tori Vasquez and Emily Barnes are in charge of cheer and advanced tumbling,” Harold said.

The staff also is responsible for the Flip Fusion team, which will compete in its first scheduled event Nov. 30-Dec. 1 in Dallas. The team will compete in seven events, ending with the June 30-July 6 nationals at Kansas City, Mo.

“We want to inform the community that this place is under new ownership with new equipment on the way,” Mindy said.

The McWilliamses are encouraging those interested in checking out the new facility to stop by at their location on 505 N. U.S. Highway 77 or visit their Web site at www.theflipfusion.com.
