Members of the Waxahachie Fire Department responded to a structure Saturday in the 1200 block of W. Jefferson. Two engines were dispatched to the scene at 4:25 p.m.

“Upon arrival, smoke was visible from across the street and the structure was fully involved,” Waxahachie Battalion Chief Gary Myers said.

“The structure that was on fire was a shed that was located in the back yard of a residence,” he said.

The shed measuring 40 by 60 feet was considered to be a total loss. Firefighters were able to keep the fire contained to the single building and there was no damage to neighboring structures.

No injuries were reported from firefighters or residents at the scene. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Units cleared the scene at 6:31 p.m.

“There were no gas lines running to the shed. The only thing that had to be done was to unplug an extension cord that was running to the shed from the main residence,” Myers said.

“So it was not necessary to call Oncor out the scene to disconnect the power,” he said.
