A fire at the site of the springtime Scarborough Renaissance Festival in Waxahachie has left one worker dead.

Festival spokesman Orvis Melvin says investigators are trying to determine what started the blaze Monday night at the complex near Waxahachie.

Multiple agencies responded to the blaze, including Emergency Service District No. 6 and the Waxahachie Fire Department.

Melvin says several buildings were damaged or destroyed in the fire. He says some workers live at the complex. The name of the man who died was not immediately released.

Melvin said the 2012 Scarborough Renaissance Festival, set for April 7 through May 28, will be held as planned.

The facility also is the site for Screams, a Halloween-themed event, held in October each year.
