FERRIS - The Ferris City Council voted Monday night to authorize an expenditure from the height-increase funds to purchase two bleacher sets and concrete pads for $10,000 and soccer goal sets and chalk liner for $5,000 for Holley Park ball fields and soccer complex.

In other action, the council authorized the purchase of a new diesel tractor zero-turn mower for $12,500.

Public works director Charlie James made a report to the council about the implementation of new work orders and daily logs for the department’s employees.

“I have received positive reaction from the employees. They are anxious for the council to be apprised of their work hours,” James said.

This action was in response to issues raised by councilman Billy Dunn in a previous meeting concerning his observation of the work practices of some city workers.
