FERRIS - The Board of Adjustments met Tuesday, conducting public hearings on substandard structures in the Weatherford First Addition at 700 and 704 N. Church St.

“The property owner was given a certain amount of time to tear the structures down and if the owner did not meet the time frame, the city would remove the structures,” City Manager Gus Pappas said.

In other action, a public hearing was conducted concerning a 30-day extension requested by a property owner on work ordered by the board on a substandard structure at 205 E. Second St. The board voted to give party a 30-day extension.

An applicant’s request for a variance on a tract of land out of the Mason Phelps Survey in Ferris to change the zoning from residential to industrial manufacturing was denied.

“The owner had commercial truck bodies on the property,” Pappas said. “The zoning in that area does not allow for that, so the variance was denied.”
