BARDWELL A one-vehicle accident Jan. 19 has left one person dead and another in critical condition.

The accident occurred at about 8:02 p.m. eight-tenths of a mile south of Bardwell on Farm-to-Market 985.

According to Department of Public Safety reports, a 1999 Ford pickup failed to negotiate a curve and lost control, rolling 4-1/4 times before coming to rest on the passenger side.

Both occupants, neither of whom were wearing seatbelts, were ejected from the vehicle, according to the report.

The driver, Kevin Barker, 21, of Alma, was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Curtis Polk. The passenger, Brittany C. McGlothin, 17, of Ennis, was transported to Parkland Memorial Hospital, where she was listed in critical condition with massive head trauma, according to the report.

The accident was investigated by DPS trooper Tom Prudom.
