Several meetings have been held recently at La Galleria to make plans for a luncheon and style show to be held Oct. 11 as a fund-raiser for the Ennis Chamber of Commerce.
The “Ladies of the Chamber” will coordinate the first-time event, which is planned for 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m., with Sandra Wakefield of Ennis featured as mistress of ceremonies.
Details are still pending for seating arrangements and ticket prices, but the show will extend to two levels of La Galleria, accommodating 200-plus people, and offer special VIP seating near a runway extending from the historic building’s signature staircase.
With live music and a pull-down screen showing designer clothing and scenes from around the world, the gala event will offer first-class entertainment along with a gourmet luncheon.
Both professional and local models will be used. Sweet & Sassy owner Lou Nagy and Ennis store manager Jan Johnson will provide the models and their ensembles.
“Some of the larger chambers of commerce have a women’s division,” said Patsy Grider, chamber president, “but the Ennis Chamber does not feel the need for that.
“However, several of our active female members had previously discussed hosting some type of women’s event to further engage the membership and support the chamber,” she said. “As the chamber continues to grow and need additional funds, we were looking for an additional fund-raiser as well. With the gracious offer from Isabelle Tant to use La Galleria and the agreement of Sweet & Sassy located in the facility to donate their services, the idea of the fashion show took root and quickly bloomed into an elegant entertainment event for Ennis.”
Tant has been appointed as chairman of the fashion show committee, which includes Laurie Mah, JoAnn Cody, Amy Womack, Sandra Wakefield, Brenda Haupt and Grider.
