The Waxahachie Downtown Farmers Market will host the annual Cotton Fest from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, in the city’s historic downtown area.
“Come celebrate the role cotton has played in the development of Waxahachie and Ellis County,” a spokesman said. “Lone Star Glory Band will be performing on the courthouse steps and there will be a petting zoo, pony rides, balloons, and other activities for the kids.” Festival-goers will have the opportunity to pick and gin their own cotton and see spinners and quilters in action as part of the event’s activities, which are geared toward the entire family. Vendors will have fresh fruits and vegetables, plants, jams and jellies, salsas, spices and other products available for purchase. Master Gardeners also will be on site to answer any agricultural questions and T-shirts will be available for purchase.
The Waxahachie Downtown Farmers Market is located on the south side of the Ellis County Courthouse, on Franklin Street.
